The Can’t-Miss Local Hot Spots in the Abacos

Vacation is all about immersing yourself, right? There’s no better way to do that than to get down with the locals on your next trip! We’re highlighting some of the best spots in the Abacos— these hidden gems are the real deal, and perfect for a drink, bite or epic conversation with the people that call these islands home.

Cracker P’s Bar and Grill

Located in Lubber Quarters Cay, this beachside restaurant is known for its expansive ocean views and spacious bar that carries over 50 varieties of rum from all over the Caribbean. They offer a casual menu featuring an array of seafood items and specially crafted hot sauces. Plus, Cracker P’s friendly staff will make you feel right at home. P.S., the Smoked Fish Dip is not to be missed!

Pete’s Pub

This quaint dive bar is located in Little Harbor and boasts, in our opinion, the best burgers in the Abacos. According to their official website, the unique building was constructed in the 1950s by famous sculptor, Pete Johnson, and doubles as an art gallery containing their world-renowned sculptures. Art and food—it doesn’t get better.

Snappas Chill and Grill

While this secluded spot doesn’t have a typical Bahamas exterior, its sunset views are top notch even by Caribbean standards. Their signature drink, the Snappa Shaker, is spiked with two types of rum that will leave you feeling some type of way—in the best way possible. They also offer live entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays, so you can get your groove on, Caribbean style.

Nippers

This colorful bar sits on top of a hill overlooking Guana Cay. It features a beautiful beach, reputable frozen drinks, good food, a pool and live entertainment for all to enjoy. Here, Sunday Funday isn’t taken lightly. So bring your party pants.

Jamie’s Place

This family owned and managed diner will have you feeling like a local in no time. Located in Marsh Harbor, they serve up home-style food all day (the cracked conch is a fan favorite!). If that wasn’t enough, Jamie’s place also serves as an ice cream parlor, so save room for dessert! You’ll want to indulge in one of these frozen sweet treats to satisfy your sweet tooth on the hottest of Caribbean days.

You know what they say, “When in the Bahamas”… well, you catch our drift.
