Safety at Sea

At Mast Charters, we strive to give our guests an enjoyable, fun, and safe experience while aboard each of our luxury charters. While our professional and highly-trained crew will be with you on your journey every step of the way to make sure your trip is smooth sailing, it’s great to have prior knowledge of boating safety basics to ensure that you and your crew enjoy an unforgettable, safe vacation on the crystal clear waters of the Bahamas or British Virgin Islands.

Keep these safety tips and guidelines in mind when hopping on your charter this summer:

  • Know the boat! We’ll give you an in-depth tour of your luxury charter once you hop aboard, including specific safety information as well as where you can find life jackets and first-aid kits in case of an emergency or injury. Keep this information in mind throughout your trip.
  • Learn how to swim! If someone in your party doesn’t know how or needs a refresher, make sure they stay away from the edge of the ship to avoid potential injury, or equip and fit them with a lifejacket so they can enjoy the waves without worry. Additionally, always ask our staff if it is safe to jump in — some areas can be more dangerous than others, especially for the inexperienced swimmer.
  • Avoid over-consumption of alcohol while sailing the ocean blue. Not only can alcohol leave you feeling queasy during your trip (learn more about how to avoid seasickness here), but inebriated passengers can be a hazard to themselves and everyone on the boat.
  • Brush up on the basics. Though our staff is trained to equip any emergency at sea, it can’t hurt to have basic knowledge of these skills. Brush up on CPR steps and other life-saving tactics so that you’re prepared in case of an emergency.
  • Having fun is the objective, but keep rowdiness to a minimum! No pushing or throwing objects overboard during your stay.
  • Stay aware at all times. Of course, we want you to have a fun and stress-free stay, but always be aware of your surroundings. If you’re traveling with young children, make sure they’re in your line of sight at all times and stay away from the boat’s edge without supervision.

Following these simple guidelines will ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone aboard, both guests and staff. Ready to set sail? Book your Mast Charters vacation here.
