We’ve narrowed down our top five favorite spots in the Abacos to get you started:
- Nippers Beach Bar & Grill — We had to start with the good stuff. This spot is one of our favorites for delicious bites, drinks and a great night out! Located in Great Guana Cay, this is a stop you do not want to miss. Pro tip: on Sundays, they host a wild boar roast for guests! And don’t forget to try their Nipper Juice Drinks. Thank us later.
- Great Abaco Barrier Reef – If you’re a fan of water activities and nature, then this stop is a no-brainer. The Great Abaco Barrier Reef is the third-largest barrier reef in the world and protects the region from the Atlantic Ocean. Clearly a popular snorkeling destination, you’ll enjoy clear, tropical waters as you swim past unique marine life such as eels, jackfish, and sea turtles.
- Pelican Cays Land and Sea Park — One of our favorite family-friendly destinations, Pelican Cays Land and Sea Park has a total of 177 species documented, while surrounded by one-of-a-kind underwater caves and colorful coral reefs. Boasting some of the most beautiful marine and wildlife in the world, this stop is not only gorgeous but makes for an educational and cultural activity for the whole family.
- Marsh Harbour — As the Bahamas’ third largest city and the economic center of the Abacos, Marsh Harbour will likely be your most central stop. Despite being a commercial hub, its lively spirit makes it a must-see destination. While you’re here, be sure to check out the Mermaid Reef for out-of-this-world snorkeling, and be sure to check out one of the several National Parks to take in some breathtaking views.
- Guana Cay — Your one stop shop, Guana Cay is perfect for everyone on your vacation. A gorgeous coastline with adventure, culture and a lively social scene, you can’t go wrong. Guana Cay is perfect for day-time water activities and is nearby snorkeling, diving and sailing destinations.
