THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:
- Your cash works here! The United States Dollar is the only currency in the BVI. Most businesses will take credit card, but beware! Not every island has an accessible ATM. Be prepared with enough cash for each day when you’re off the charter exploring.
- Cover up. Of course, feel free to boast your trendiest swimwear on the yacht and on the BVI’s pristine beaches, but this attire is generally not accepted at businesses or restaurants. Bring a dress or shorts and a top to throw on over your swimsuit when visiting any private establishment.
- We all love rum, so do us all a favor and buy it exclusively at grocery stores on the Island! Tourist shops will charge you way more or less quantity. Pro tip: rum makes a great gift to send back home!
- Speaking of, the legal drinking age in the BVI is 18, and alcoholic beverages are sold seven days a week. Fun fact: you can have an open container on the beach, but be sure not to leave a mess—you’ll get hit with a big fine from government officials.

- One of the most popular spots to check out on your 7-day charter are the Baths on Virgin Gorda! These unique rocks that formed millions of years ago have created grottos of seawater that are now super popular areas to swim and snorkel! (P.S. Check out our best BVI snorkeling spots here.)
- A gorgeous hike at Sage Mountain National Park. This is a great opportunity to hop off the charter and explore, taking in views that are out of this world and some of the best throughout the islands.
- Indulge in BVI cuisine (when you’re not eating on the charter, that is)! Our itinerary will lend its way to a stop in Tortola with some delicious, home-cooked street food that you simply will not get anywhere else. Pro tip: we recommend the roti and salt fish.
